Word from the Mouth: No Heat Stroke For Me! edition
Man, what a weekend it was. We had at least 3 players celebrating birthdays on Saturday and 2 of them celebrated with wins.
Last week I warned everyone to bring plenty of water, so you won’t pass out and die. Normally its me who ends up on the floor cramping up and puking by the end of those hot days. This week I was fine and maybe it had to do with not playing any games this week, but I was still out there in the sun all day. I heard Jon was passing out and couldn’t last all day, Nick when I got to Leber after cleaning up Arthur Therrien was unable to move, I also know a few other players were telling me on Sunday that they were cramping up all night. Water won’t take care of everything but the combination of staying hydrated, using sunscreen, wearing a hat and trying to stay in as much shade as possible will help. We have 2 weeks left of the season before playoffs and once August or at least September the temperature will be cooler and everyone will be complaining about it being cold, except me who will still be walking around shirtless like always.
Recap
Division 1
Iron Wolves vs Trollers (30-28)
Max and Demario put up almost identical numbers, but the difference was Max had more completions than Demario had attempts. Max worked the field and Demario got big plays from his receivers. Late in game Max was leading Trollers down to take the lead, but Meis picked off his pass and allowed Demario to run out the clock.
Division 2
Pocket Rockets vs Marvels (28-20)
This was the last game of the day, and everyone was tired. Meis had a big game for Marvels with 8 catches for 83 yards, but just couldn’t find the endzone. Manu subbed and scored twice. Leo could have had a bigger game than he did, but dropped a deep ball early in the game that he easily would have scored on. The sight of the game was watching PO rush most of the game, he didn’t get any stats, but they were only 6 so he bit the bullet and rushed.
Division 3
Phoenix vs Douilles Molasses (19-32)
I only saw half of this game and it didn’t look good for the Phoenix defense. They missed a few tackles that turned into big scores and allowed a jump ball on the last play of the half. Phoenix had no answer for Felix, he picked them apart through the air and ran around like there was no one rushing him, at least from what I saw.
Double Dippers vs Mustard Tigers (30-7)
Double Dippers had no QB, so they let the 6-interception man from D4 fill in. Surprisingly Alex cut his picks in half and only threw 3. Mustard Tigers were without their best player Victor and didn’t stand much of a chance with Double Dippers being way more athletic. No one in this game had great stats. Alex from Double Dippers had 2 picks and so did Jie from Mustard Tigers. Richy Rich rushed most of the game and got 2 sacks, but at one point needed a breather and switched spots with Alex and Rich got a pick.
Division 4
Airborne vs Super Friends (2-33)
This game was all one sided and if it wasn’t for Greg getting a safety Airborne would have been shutout. Hasan had the best day I’ve seen from him ever getting 8 catches for 81 yards. Whenever Guillaume needed a play Hasan was his guy. Super Friends were very consistent this week. Oliver never forced anything, Alex scored 3 times on 10 catches and Elis led them in yards with 83 and had a pick 6 as well. Alex made a beautiful 1 handed pick that Guillaume wasn’t happy about since his receiver just watched it happen and didn’t fight for the ball.
Division 5
Los Pollitos vs Jungle Squad (20-13)
The first half of the game, Jungle Squad owned it and looked like they might run away with it. Jerome has come a long way since week 1, he is making better reads and has better play calls and just seems more confident. Michel is still the guy for Jungle Squad, but now everyone is contributing. Los Pollitos won the game having 4 total completions. Sam is a beast and won the game almost by himself. Los Pollitos have a few other players that can play, but they need to get everyone involved. Los Pollitos won the game on a pick 6 halfway through the second half.
That’s all I have for you this week, but if you’re looking for more wait until Wednesday for Terry, Willie, and maybe Jaf on the podcast this week.
Studs & Duds
It’s that time of the week where everyone gets to see if they balled out enough to make my list or how badly you failed and got put on the bad list.
Studs
Division 1
- Meïs Ngarane 2 catches for 723 yards and 2 TDs on offense, then on defense he made 3 tackles and had 1 pick.
Division 2
- Craig O’Brien went 26 of 32 for 262 yards, 7 TDs and 2 1point converts.
Division 3
- Félix Gérin-Lajoie went 16 of 27 for 197 yards, 5 TDs and 2 1point converts. Felix also ran 7 times for 30 yards. On defense he made 2 tackles which were both sacks and had a pick as well.
Division 4
- Diego Castro Arellano was 15 of 17 for 163 yards, 4 TDs and 1 2point convert. Diego also ran 6 times for 69 yards and a 2point convert, he also made 3 tackles and had a pick on defense.
Division 5
- Max Rosenfeld had 4 catches for 61 yards and 3 TDs. Max also made 2 tackles and had 2 picks.
Duds
Division 1
- Kris Hope for false rumors about him no longer playing this season and that not even lasting 1 week.
Division 2
- Spritz Gang and Marvel for both not showing up and bringing their A game with a chance at playoffs on the line.
Division 3
- Jason Armenti for scoring 20 points under his team’s average and then there are his 3 picks on top of that.
Division 4
- Alexandre Szalipszki 6 picks thrown.
Division 5
- Improbables offense minus Alex. You need more than your center to contribute if you plan on making a deep playoff run.
That who I came up with for this week. I had a few other picks in mind but decided that these people were the true winners and losers of week 10.
