Word from the Mouth: 28-3 Defeats Phoenix! edition

Word from the Mouth: 28-3 Defeats Phoenix! edition

The final whistle of the season has been blown and now we get to see some playoff football.

After weeks of playing at Darcy McGee and Arthur Therrien, we get to go back to our old stomping ground over at Le Ber and no one is happier than Willie. Yup, Willie will be eating pizza all day to make up for those lost weeks.

Its been torture the last few weeks with the gosh darned heat and this weekend doesn’t seem to be much better, but it is only Monday and this turkey weather will change between now and then. I’m so burnt out from this heat, I can’t even put words to screen at this point, so Ill just jump into my recap for the week, which is just a rundown of D4 since that’s where I spent most of my day.

Recap

D1

Missed the 1 game being played.

Division 2

Missed out once again on a few exciting games.

Division 3

Phoenix vs Bines (13-39)

Ok, let me start by pointing out this was the last game of the day and we knew what needed to be done to get what we wanted in the playoffs. This game started with Bines scoring with ease from 33 yards out by David. Phoenix responded with a 31 yards TD to Justin with big scores from both teams, it looked like we might get a shootout. With their next drive, JF decided to show he could work the field and ate 7:30 off the clock while running 11 plays to score again. This is where I made a boo boo and cost Phoenix the game. To open the drive, I ran a play (ed’s note: bold strategy!) and on second down I thought the same route combination was going to be open on the other side, but it wasn’t. Albert and Simon switched what they were doing and because I stared the play down, it made an easy pick for Albert that he thought he was scoring on, but he got flagged on the 1. After Bines scored to make it a 20-7 game, I was thinking its OK we will go down score and get the ball to start the second half. That was all true except I left 27 seconds on the clock, which was enough time for Bines to score and put Phoenix over the 21 points so they could move up the rankings. At this point, the score was 27-13 Bines and with the second half underway I was trying different things, knowing it wouldn’t have any influence on the standings unless we gave up 58 points. Second half was a wash and didn’t matter for either team. (ed’s note: classic loser talk)

Division 4

Phoenix vs 28-3 (18-19)

This game was a shame as Phoenix had nothing to play for except beer that Nico pushed back until next season. Everyone knew nothing was on the line for us and when we went down and scored on our opening drive, in my head I was like this is easy and then 28-3 started to move the ball and make a few plays and before I knew it, they held a 19-6 lead with under 16 minutes left. After trading picks, Phoenix got back on track and scored on a 7 yard catch and run from Dave to cut the lead. Phoenix then forced a punt to get the ball back with under 8 minutes. This was a complete Vince drive, knowing I needed to get down and score but have time if we didn’t get the convert to get ball back. Vince scored his second TD of the game with 3:17 left. Time to play defense and get a stop to have a chance at it. When Nico ran for 7 yards to start the drive, it was a matter of letting clock run and allowing a first down on the next play then hope for a stop and use timeouts. That’s what we did, and we were able to get the ball back, but on the last play of the game Nico knocked the ball out of the air to get the win for 28-3.

Improbables vs Bandits (13-32)

Winner gets into playoffs and loser gets to stay home on Saturday and play NCAA 25 all day. Emmanuel put up a nice stat line going 13 of 19 for 129 yards with 3 TDs and 1 pick. What really helped Bandits win was their defense, Julian had 2 sacks and Franky and JP combined for 3 picks with each returning 1 for a TD. It also helped that they were able to double dip, meaning score before half and score to start the second half as well. This made the score 20-7 Bandits. As for Improbables, they didn’t go down without a fight. Mat did what he could and had it not been for those pick 6s the game was close. The game started to change in favor of Improbables when Nico started to rush for them. He got there fast with his hands up and ready to rack up a few sacks, two to be exact.

Drama Club vs FAD (27-24)

FAD has a new QB in Tristan who other than his 1 pick that Simon had and scored on was able to pick apart this Drama Club defense like it was government cheese (ed’s note: I have no idea what this means) as he completed 14 of 27 passes for 162 yards and 4 TDs to 1 pick. Ok, what makes it even worse for Drama Club was all the damage was done by Andre who scored 4 TDs and had 126 yards. An experienced team shouldn’t allow this. When it comes to Drama Club offensively they didn’t look great dropping a few key balls and not taking advantage when they should. What really worked for them, and it might be because FAD doesn’t have enough experience, but Simon was able to run at will and most of the times he ran there was green grass in front of him. I’ll tell you now that if FAD had more experience and knew what to do in key situations, they might have won this game.

Bouchers vs 100 Genies (19-32)

Felix had a monster game this week hauling in 13 passes for 80 yards along with 2 TDs and 1 1-point convert to go with his 3 tackles and 1 pick on defense. Gabriel Mercier was a beast once again throwing 5 TDs, running with power looking to truck a few defenders on his way to gaining 48yards on 5 carries, he also had 1 pick on defense. What makes Gabriel so dangerous is his arm as he can throw it 45 yards on a rope while running and you might think that he can only go deep, well when he goes short the ball is normally on target, its just a matter of if his players catch it or not. I don’t remember this, but the stats don’t lie, Clara had 2 picks on defense. Othmane is a force you need to be worried about on both sides of the ball. He collects sacks as if they were cans on the street. This week he was held to none, but made his presence felt scoring a 45-yard bomb to make it a 25-12 game with under 2 in the half. Lukas was able to march the 45 yards to score to make it a 6-point game for 100 Genies at half. Second half was boring no big plays and the only score was Kim from 6 yards out.

Mustard Tigers vs Warriors (30-12)

Let me start by giving a big shout out to Scott who turned 112 last week and looked good. Not only did Brian want to get him involved in the game, he was thinking he might get him his first ever TD. Well Brian ruined it and got Scott 2 TDs and from what Elliot was telling me, Scott hasn’t shut up about his impressive performance and its been 3 days since its happened. Look, at the end of the day Warriors made this a game in the first half because of their defense scoring twice on picks. Then in the second half they made a change at QB, and the backup ended up throwing 4 picks and kept giving Brain and his team a short field. Best play of the game had to be the pick by Olivier who as the rusher picked the quick slant off and was able to walk in for the score since we all know Brian isn’t chasing anyone down. Next season if Warriors come back, they need to pick who will be QB and leave it like that because switching in game doesn’t help anyone out.

Division 5

Missed out once again on a few exciting games.

Women’s

Missed out once again on a few exciting games.

Sorry about missing so many divisions this week. I was passed around so much in D4 this week that I now know (ed’s note: the rest of this sentence is redacted)

Studs & Duds

If you were expecting to see your name on my list this week you better have done something remarkable and stood out from the rest of the players. That or you can take the Hope route and just have senior moment and forget what you are doing temporarily. Yes, Kris, I’m calling you old. Now to see who made my list.

Studs

Division 1

- Alexis Ferrand 8 catches 85 yards, 1 TD, he made 2 tackles and had 2 picks on defense.

Division 2

- Alexandre Vallières 4 TDs and 100 yards on 8 catches.

Division 3

- Lucas Coveyduck 4 TDs on 11 catches for 63 yards.

Division 4

- André-Philippe Bertrand 4  TDs, 126 yar

ds and on defense he had 1 sack and 2 picks as well.

Division 5

- Remi Faugere 5 TD passes no picks and over 150 in the air as well.

Women’s

- Élisabeth Pelland 4 catches 4 TDs, 2 1-point converts with 76 total yards.

Duds

Division 1

- Rob White only getting 1 PD and wearing a shirt all day so his fans aren’t happy about that.

Division 2

- Stephen Harripersaud for monkeying up what could have been perfect game and throwing a pick to start the second half.

Division 3

- Kevin Kousaie for throwing 3 picks and not staying focused on this game and not looking towards next week.

Division 4

- (ed’s note: this was blank for some reason, so I will Kevin Kousaie is the D4 dud for leaving this blank)

Division 5

- Sniffers once again with the forfeit for not showing up.

Women’s

- Drama Club as a team losing 3 straight going into playoffs.

These are the last Studs of the season, but don’t worry, if your team made the playoffs and you ball the Canada goose out you might get to see your name on the list next week. Or you can not show up at all and just phone it in. Either way someone is going to ball out and someone is going to suck balls, who it will be depends on you and your performance.

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 10

Predictions and Power Rankings Week 10

Predictions

Now that I am no longer competing against the Coin (ed’s note: the fact that you capitalize its name makes me think Kevin thinks it’s a sentient entity, which should have me more worried than it does) I have moved all my efforts over to the media survivor pool where everyone screwed up and didn’t pick a team last week, except Matt and me. With that happening, I think I win the media picks since they all gave up except Willie who was out weeks ago.

Last week I managed to go 18-10, which isn’t half bad. That means this week is my last chance to get a perfect week, so help me out and like always my picks are in bold.

Division 4

System Urbains vs Sour Peeps

28-3 vs Phoenix NA I don’t pick my games, but I am warning Nico, you better bring the case of 12 when you arrive and none of that light beer crap or you better make it 24 if that’s the case.

Drama Club vs FAD

Improbables vs Bandits

Mimosa Crew vs Warriors

Bouchers vs 100 Genies

Bouchers vs Villains

Mustard Tigers vs Warriors

MTL Cessnas vs CIA Fusion

Those are my picks for week 11. You can love them or hate them, all I know is that this is my last chance to get all my picks right, so I’ll need a few of you to take the Master Chiefs approach and think about taking the forfeit to help me out. I don’t know if that’s the case or not, I just had a birdie fly by with this info.

Final Thoughts

I grew up in the west (ed’s note: he means the west island. This is “west” to Kevin) and that means having to travel to go downtown and party it up and have a good time. I just need someone to explain why no matter when you go downtown or travel along Deciare is there always gosh darned traffic (ed’s note: it’s called ‘induced demand’. It’s why highways don’t work).

Today (Wednesday) I took my middle child to get her first tattoo and the round trip took 2 hours and 45 minutes, from Saint Jean to Saint Denis. This is root tootin’ ridiculous. (ed’s note: demand better public transportation!) I’m glad I’m old and have a hot chick on my arm and don’t need to go out that way anymore because it sucks big time.

We have made it to the final week of the season and that means you have one week left to help get your team into the playoffs. I want to remind everyone that, yes, it’s the last week and maybe your team really needs that W to make the playoffs, but we are still just playing a game.

So go out have fun and don’t kill anyone, but if you do, you can toss them into the river if you’re at Arthur Therrien or the canal if you’re at Darcy McGee, but we would prefer if you did the right thing and contacted the authorities and let them handle it.

See you all Saturday when my team goes 2-0 and rides high into the playoffs and on their way to a championship or two.

Word from the Mouth: The Lifelong Goal of a 3 Year Old! edition

Word from the Mouth: The Lifelong Goal of a 3 Year Old! edition

Man, oh man, who knew the season would come to an end so quickly? (ed’s note: literally anyone who can read a calendar or understands how time works?)

Just 1 week left and still so much up in the air.

You got D1 and D2 where all but one team are making the playoffs.

D2 playoffs essentially start this week, with a play in game.

D3 has all 8 teams locked in the playoffs, but seeding won’t be determined until I look at the standing before my 4:30 games against Bines. I will pick who plays who by the outcome of my game. With that being said I can take bribes to help you out. We will take on any and all teams that want a shot at us we aren’t afraid, well climb the ladder and show you what happens when you wake the beast.

D4 has the most teams and has the biggest gap as well. Those top teams are going to be just fine, its those bottom teams that I can’t see having much of a shot at it.

When it comes to D5, I have Slot Machines winning it all, unless they screw up (ed’s note: so you have them winning it all, unless they don’t?).

When we started the women’s division, co-ed was the way to go first to attract more women before branching off and getting their own division. It seemed to work out as we got 5 teams in year 1 which is one less (ed’s note: sic) team than the league first started with in 2014 and now we have 61 teams (ed’s note: plus Brossard and soon Laval!). It’s a 3-horse race in the women’s division, but if I had to pick a favorite right now, I’d go with Tigres.

Look, there is still 1 week left and lots can happen, but those teams fighting for your playoffs lives this is your last chance.

Recap

Division 1

A-Team vs Outlaws (6-36)

For a D1 game this was low scoring and not a great statistical game as no receiver had more than 43 yards. That is messed up when you look at who’s on those rosters. After starting with the ball and turning it over on downs, Brady led Outlaws on 4 straight TD drives to end the game. The difference in this game was after Outlaws went up 8-0, Marvin picked off a pass scoring and making it 16-0. Dave was able to lead a long 13 play scoring drive to bring it to within 10. The problem was the defense wasn’t able to get a stop and gave up another score along with the 2-point convert. This put A-Team down 24-6 with under 1 minute, but also getting the ball back to start the second half. On the very last play of the half Dave threw it to the endzone where the ball was caught by Laurent who was called just short of the line, leaving the score 24-6. Second half A-Team struggled to move the ball and Outlaws were able to score when they had the ball to win the game with ease.

Division 2

Pocket Rockets vs Top Shooters (41-46)

How do you lose this game playing 5 vs 6 and one of those 5 is Mike Jaz (ed’s note: it’s because one of those 5 is Mike “The Jazzmaster” Jaz!). Mike, I love you, but you and I both know you shouldn’t be on the field in D2 on defense. Just avoid Marvin when you have the ball and double him on defense, which would have been my plan. Pocket Rockets had other plans and that was letting Marvin beat them with 111 yards, 3 TDs, 2 2-point converts, then had 2 picks and scored on one of them.

Division 3

Phoenix vs TDs & Beers (31-6)

I was expecting a much closer game in this one especially with TDs & Beers needing the win and help to get into playoffs. With 2 weeks off I was a bit rusty to start the game, but on the second drive of the game after each team turned it over, JF went streaking down the middle and was left wide open for the 37-yard TD. After I made that throw, I felt confidant and knew I was going to be able to make plays when I needed to. With that in my head I started to take a few more shots, but the defense stepped up with Alex getting the first pick, followed by Ali making a great play coming from nowhere to pick it off and if he hadn’t Francis was going in for 6 and everyone knew it. The last pick by Phoenix was made by Alexi, but all credit should go to Khalil. I looked right, came back left, Josh had a step and I went to throw it and Khalil raised his hands and instead of a good release I threw that ball so high that it had no chance making to where Josh was and Alexi had an easy pick. Alexi didn’t fare much better under center as he threw 5 picks with 4 of them going to Justin.

Horde vs Phoenix (33-27)

Before the game even started Simon was crying, throwing himself on the ground, and kicking and screaming because we, the home team, elected to wear white for the game and they were forced to wear pinnies. Me being the really nice guy that I am, said OK we will put on our green jerseys. I know you can’t win and really can’t lose a game on the first play, but after how the game turned out, the pick by Pierre-Alexandre was the difference. Of course, Simon punched it in from 4 yards out to go up 6. At half Horde was up 14-6 after scoring to end the half they were looking for that double dip to blow the game wide open. Phoenix’s defense stepped up with Justin get a big PD on fourth down. This was our shot to tie it up we scored and on the convert Francis and Ben got into it a bit and I was hoping to use this later in the game. After trading punts, Justin, instead of knocking one of Simons passes away, picked it off and walked in from 5 yards out for the TD putting Phoenix up 21-14. After scoring on their next two possession, they held 27-21 lead with 4:30 left. I was in no hurry with 3 timeouts everything was on the table. After a big play to Alec for 24 yards, I slowed it down trying to milk every second of the clock. Phoenix was able to score and tie it at 27 and on the convert, I was going to run the same play as before, but this time ben was up press on Francis, and I had to go to my second read, but it was high and came down out of bounds. Horde had two plays and the second was a 45-yard pass from Guillaume to Ben where 3 defenders were standing and waiting for the ball, and this allowed Ben to come across the goal line and catch it with his flags in the endzone.

Division 4

Villains vs Sour Peeps (31-6)

Sour Peeps open this game with a great start, Jocelyn went short a few plays, but after getting a first down he went over the top to Lambert who hauled it in for a big gain and after that Jocelyn ran it in for a TD from 6 yards out. After that drive Sour Peeps looked like nothing like themselves, dropping passes, running wrong routes, missing tackles, and blowing coverages. Even with the addition of Will to the Villains team they looked like the same team as the previous few weeks struggling to move the ball and to score. Then the second half started, and Will and his team went off scoring on all 4 of their offensive drives, plus Lucas picked off a pass and scored on it as well. Villains won because they played better on both sided of the ball and, yes, Will playing was huge, but not the reason they won.

Division 5

Binettes vs Secret Agents (21-18)

JF dominated the first half moving the ball up playing defense getting his team a 12-0 lead at halftime. The second half couldn’t have started much worse for Secret Agents who forced a punt, but then gave up a safety. After a turnover Mathieu started to pick away at the lead making it 12-8 before hitting a big one to Mark for 33 yards giving them a 15-12 lead. JF responded with a drive of 5 plays for a score giving them a 18-15 lead with 4:22 left. After having little success, Mathieu passed the ball to Albert who took the pass 33 yards into the redzone where he would score one play later giving Binettes a 3-point lead with 1:30 left, but after getting some yards JF had his pass tipped and picked off by Mark for the second time of the game this time ending the game.

Women’s

Sorry Ladies, I wasn’t scheduled for any of your games this week. Jon and Terry both think me being by the field will distract too many of you and the game will suffer (ed’s note: I mean it would, but not for the reason Kevin is implying). I hope you all understand, but you can always send me a quick message about what went down or who balled out and I’ll give a shout out, unless its for Barb.

Studs & Duds

Let me start by saying that if you haven’t seen your name on my list by now, you’re not doing enough or if your goal was to suck all season so your rating won’t be adjusted, then you have done too much up to this point. Now let’s see who the dogs are and who the turd piles are.

Women’s

You have 1 week left to make it or else you might consider your season a failure if you didn’t. Id love to meet the person whose lifelong goal is to make my list (ed’s note: your list is like 3 years old, so this theoretical person with this “lifelong” wish is, at most, 3). If you’re out there come and see me and well have a chat live on the Podcast. I’m telling you now that if this happens, we want you to send in your questions.

Final Thoughts

Once again its calling for rain this week and this is complete grumpy goose. Looks like Darcy McGee is going to get messed up on the other side of the field this weekend. I grumpy goose hate playing in the rain. It sucks grumpy goose, especially when you play late in the day. I’m just glad that I over prepare for this weather. Let’s hope for the sun to be out with a smile on its face.

Last week we all made fun of the US under 20 American football team losing in the Semifinals to Japan 41-20. Well, this week it gets even better as they lost the bronze medal game to Austria 32-25. Don’t worry, us Canadians are still sitting on top winning it all 20-9 over Japan.

I can tell you this, if you were under 20 and had an extra $4500 laying around you could have been part of team USA. The US took nobodys to this tournament, I’m talking D3 guys were the stars. This means nothing in ways of highlights and getting noticed, so who cares if you won it all or not no one will remember. I mean I didn’t even know they had this.

Playoffs are a few weeks away and that means its time to get your team in order and make sure that your players all have 5 games played to eligible to play.

Last things before I let you go, it’s a game we are playing, so go have fun, enjoy yourself, and don’t kill anyone. See you Saturday.

Word from the Mouth: All Righty Then! edition

Word from the Mouth: All Righty Then! edition

Hey everyone, I made it back from the US without any issue. Going into the US there was no one, and I mean no one, unlike some people I know who waited in line (ed’s note: are you flexing about your wait time at the airport?). The hardest part was the kid couldn’t even answer a simple question because children now a days have no clue what is going on or how to respond to authority (ed’s note: you gotta give us an “old man says” trigger warning before you drop a bomb like that!).

I mean you look at me and you definitely think this guy has been in jail (ed’s note: most of us think “should be”), his rap sheet is longer than the list Santa keeps. I mean I’m one of the cleanest people in the league.

Funniest thing ever has to be going to McDonalds at night to get some ice cream and instead of driving because it was right on the other side of parking lot we decided to walk, but on the way I realized I needed a bottle of water so we walked from the entrance to the car and went to drive thru. We get to order and, guess what, ice cream machine is no longer operational after 11. It was 11:01. I say that sucks balls and the person responds, Sir, here we say testicles. We are politically correct.

Hope that Saturday didn’t kill the grass at Darcy McGee, I know it did at Arthur Therrien, but there wasn’t much grass to start with.

Recap

Division 1

Missed all of D1 this week, but I Know Terry and Will were working or playing in these games so they will get covered in the Podcast.

Division 2

KOLB vs Top Shooters (50-49)

This game was back and forth with a combined 15 TDs from Brady and Jon. Player for player I’d give the edge to Top Shooters, but then you add the rain and somehow everything flipped. Top Shooters had no answer for Alex and Jeremi who scored 7 of the 8 TDS for KOLB and they also had the 3 picks on defense. Brady relied on Big Marv, Jeremy, and Jason who hauled in 16 of 18 completions and 259 of his 281 yards. Top Shooters turned it over 3 times and KOLB didn’t and they still only lost by 1. They did turn it over on downs 3 times as well though. Before half KOLB scored to go up 37-29 and were starting the second half with the ball. The big problem was they left 1 second on the clock and this allowed Brady to connect with Marvin 10 yards down field and Marvin  did the rest with his legs taking it in from 45 yards away. With the ball to start the second half, KOLB turned it over on downs at their 10-yard line. This allowed Top Shooters to go up 41-37. The defense kept it up and got the ball back on downs this again led to Top Shooters scoring and having a 49-37 advantage. KOLB were able to settle back in and moved the ball scored and on the first play on defense got a pick. Jon now had the ball with plenty of time with 6:42 left in the game. He left Brady with lots of time, but after a turnover on downs Top Shooters needed their defense to get another stop or the ball back, but on third and 3 Jon ran for 4 and a first down. Whistle blown game over.

Respect vs Pocket Rockets (43-30)

I will make this short and to the point. Pocket Rockets were missing players all over the place and this caused issues with consistency from PO. Willies dad was at the field, and I happened to get a quick quote from him, and he said he was sticking around to drive Willie home after the game, but only if he wins as losers don’t ride in his car. What would have been a great move from Pocket Rockets would have been to get Papa to play. You know Willie isn’t throwing it anywhere near him.

Division 3

Phoenix vs Double Dippers (25-30)

Simon was in at QB again for Phoenix and he could work his magic one more time. It took him until the third drive of the game before he got going with the first 2 ending in picks to Manu and Max. This gave Double Dippers a 6-0 with the ball and a chance to go up 12. The defense for Phoenix prevents the score keeping it at 6-0. The teams trade scores before half making it 12-6 at half. Double Dippers scored to open the second half to go up 2 scores and then both teams traded scores and with 8 minutes left the score was 24-12 Double Dippers. This is where I Ace Ventura Pet Detectived up, but only after the game was over could you make that statement. With 3:30 left in game and it being fourth and long I knew they were going to punt, but planned to use the 45 second clock. Instead of doing that I called a timeout to save clock. They punted and this left Simon plenty of time to score and go up 1-point. Francis scored his third TD of the game from 2 yards out, but this left 51 seconds on the clock. This gave David the perfect amount of time to not force anything stupid and can use the entire clock having all 3 timeouts. With zeros on the clock and being 11 yards out Double Dippers had 1 chance at it. He ran a 12 yard out from the slot and Mason did an in back endzone corner and was stuck in no mans land. I told the defense what play was coming, but Simon is a huge body and when he runs along the goal line you aren’t going to stop him and that’s what happened. That timeout Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls’d me hard, but at the time it was the right call.

Division 4

Legendaries vs Drama Club (26-6)

I’m just as shocked as you are by this outcome after how both teams looked the week before. Drama Club couldn’t have started out any better. They got a stop and then Simon led them down the field for their only score of the game. At half the score was 7-6 Legendaries with Drama Club getting the ball. This time Legendaries stopped the drive when Gordon picked off Simon. This led Ben rewarding Gordon for his effort with a 4-yard TD, giving them a 14-6 led. Now this is where the game went to Cable Guy for Simon and Drama Club. On back-to-back drives he threw pick 6s to Jerome and Andre to build the Legendaries advantage to 26-6. After that neither team did much and it ended with that score.

Division 5

514 vs Jungle Squad (12-26)

Let me start by pointing out both teams were missing their QB, the difference is Jungle Squad went with a seasoned vet in Gold and 514 stuck with someone from their roster. This didn’t end well for 514. Frederick struggled with consistency, and that is expected for a new QB, the surprising thing is that he only threw 1 pick and for a new QB that’s great. As for Jungle Squad, Gold got them on the board with a 45-yard run which he should have been tackled a few times on that run. At half the score was 14-6 Jungle. With their second possession 514 was able to score when Frederick connected with Joey for a 4-yard TD making it 14-12 Jungle. A few plays later, Gold sealed the game when he threw a deep pass to Perry to giving Jungle a 20-12 lead. After that 514 tried to get back into it, but Frederick lacking experience and playmakers did all he could, but it just wasn’t enough.

Nothing But D vs Slot Machine (2-34)

This was a game between the top 2 teams and boy did it ever disappoint. I want to talk about how Alec de Lafontaine-Jovani, the teams star QB, goes away for the weekend when you’re playing the top team and your team will need you. What also didn’t help for Nothing But D was Marcel getting a ball to the face and bending his nail all the way back and being forced out from the game. I’m not a fan of how Slot Machine operates with their line up, but it works. Karmina Asharyzad is a beast at rushing, accumulating 2 more sacks on the season. She also gets pressure on every snap which means the ball comes out fast and the other ladies playing short are all good tacklers, so this eliminates YAC. Are Slot Machine the best team in the division? Are they going to win it all? My bet would be yes, but we’ll have to wait 5 more weeks to see.

Women’s

Sorry Ladies I missed your games this week. Next week.

That is all for this week. I just want to let you all know that you can send any of us (Terry, Will, Mathieu or myself) little tidbits about your game and we will for sure mention it one way or another. Don’t forget to look out for the MFL Total Access Podcast to be up Wednesday at some point.

Studs & Duds

With how the weather was this past weekend, making my picks were pretty simple. You either dominated on defense or had better traction than the player trying to guard you. Let’s see who I went with.

Studs

Division 1

- Ashton Thibault 10 catches over 100 yards, 2 TDs, 1 1-ponit convert, 1 2-point convert and on defense he made 3 tackles and had 2 picks.

Division 2

- Jérémi Riendeau-Demers 9 catches for 98 yards, 4 TDs and 2 picks on defense.

Division 3

- David Brisson for staying calm and driving the field for the win with 51 seconds on the clock.

Division 4

- Anfernee Garçon 4 picks and ran 1 back to the house for 6 points.

Division 5

- Eric Namts played 2 games and put up 12 catches for 176 yards, 5 TDs, 2 1-point converts and made 4 tackles, 1 sack  and had 2 picks on defense.

Women’s

- Edna Pérez 4 picks scoring on 2 of them.

Duds

Division 1

- William Power 3 picks thrown and completing just over 50% of your passes.

Division 2

- Pierre-Olivier Tremblay-Agelakos 4 more picks throw taking his total on the year to 16.

Division 3

- Kris Hope, once again throwing a pass when he was over CAP. I know Jon wants to take the blame, but he wasn’t the one who threw the ball knowing he wasn’t allowed or holding a gun to the players head.

Division 4

- Simon Dumas threw 5 picks.

Division 5

- Nicolas Hurtubise 4 picks buddy, keep it up and just a friendly reminder beer in 2 weeks and none of that light crap.

Women’s

- Paola Olivares 4 picks thrown against Crazy B’s in game number 1. I get you’re winning games, but you have to cut these mistakes down if you want to beat the top teams.

Those are you winners for week 9. You can either try harder to make my list or you can go the other way and Bruce Almighty the bed, but in order to make my list you need to have the stat line to prove it. That is unless you have made the same mistake multiple times in the season, then it’s a given that you’re making my list.
